In Busseto (Parma), when Giuseppe Verdi had recently finished publishing the libretto of Don Carlos (1867), this specialty of shortcrust pastry filled with honey, almonds, pine nuts, candied fruit, citron and raisins was born in the ancient Muggia pastry shop . A specialty that the composer was fond of!

Pairings : The Spongata cake is a perfect dessert to taste accompanied by a sweet Lambrusco or a Moscato dell'Oltrepo Pavese.
